This course will focus on the specific and complex care of a bone marrow transplant patient. This interactive class will follow the care of patients pre, peri, and post bone marrow transplant.


Objectives
As a result of participating in this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Identify the basic concepts of hematopoiesis and immunology.
  2. Compare and contrast the different types of stem cells transplants.
  3. Identify the process of a pre transplant workup and medical evaluation.
  4. Identify early and late complications of a stem cell transplant.
  5. Review nursing implications for patients in the pre, peri, and post transplant periods.
  6. Describe the revaccination process after a bone marrow transplant.
  7. Discuss the concept of survivorship for bone marrow transplant patients.

Cancellations received in writing no less than 5 business days before the course will receive a full refund.  No refunds will be made for cancellations received after that date.  All refunds will be made in accordance with the procedures of the HHC Accounts Payable Department, and may take up to 60 days.  Please send cancellation requests to continuinged@hhchealth.org.
