Overview

This 7-session educational series is designed to strengthen the BHN team’s knowledge, competence, and performance in delivering Cognitive Processing Therapy for post traumatic stress disorder. Participants will progress from understanding the rationale and evidence base for CPT to identifying trauma related stuck points and competently applying cognitive restructuring interventions in practice. These changes are intended to support improved treatment fidelity, increased clinician confidence, more consistent interprofessional implementation of CPT, and improved patient engagement, symptom reduction, and functional outco


Objectives
As a result of participating in this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Describe the rationale for using Cognitive Processing Therapy as an evidence based treatment for post traumatic stress disorder, including its cognitive framework and supporting evidence.
  2. Identify maladaptive trauma related thoughts, or stuck points, that interfere with recovery in patients with post traumatic stress disorder.
  3. Challenge maladaptive trauma related thoughts using Cognitive Processing Therapy cognitive restructuring interventions to reduce PTSD symptoms and improve patient functioning.

Accreditation

Nurses: This activity is designated for a maximum of 7.00 ANCC contact hours.

Interprofessional Continuing Education: This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive 7.00 Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) credit for learning and change.

All Other Learners: All other learners will receive a Certificate of Participation for a maximum of 7.00 hours of education. Consult your professional licensing board regarding the applicability and acceptance of credits certified by an organization accredited by Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education.
