A training on Motivational Interviewing to increase knowledge and skills for staff to enhance patient care. This will be done through live education. This is open to any BHN staff member.


Objectives
As a result of participating in this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Describe Motivational Interviewing (MI) and its importance to working with the patients who have substance use disorders to reduce overdose deaths
  2. Apply the four main processes of MI: engaging, focusing, evoking, and planning.
  3. Identify the benefits of using MI in clinical practice
  4. Review the stages of change related to the substance use disorder recovery process and how to engage patients at each stage of change

In support of improving patient care, Hartford HealthCare is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
  • Physicians: Hartford HealthCare designates this Live Internet activity for a maximum of 2.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.  
    • Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to:
      -  2.00 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program; and
      -  2.00 MOC points in the American Board of Pediatrics’ (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program.
  • Nurses: This activity is designated for a maximum of 2.00 ANCC contact hours.
  • Social Workers: As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Hartford HealthCare is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Hartford HealthCare maintains responsibility for this course. Social workers completing this course receive 2.00 clinical continuing education credits. 
  • Psychologists:  Hartford HealthCare is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Hartford HealthCare maintains responsibility for this program and its content.  This activity is approved for 2.00 CE credits.
  • Other Learners: All other learners will receive a Certificate of Participation for 2.00 hours of education .  Consult your professional licensing board regarding the applicability and acceptance of certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education.
 
 

 



Cancellation Policy

Cancellations received in writing no less than 5 business days before the course will receive a full refund.  No refunds will be made for cancellations received after that date.  All refunds will be made in accordance with the procedures of the HHC Accounts Payable Department, and may take up to 60 days.  Please send cancellation requests to continuinged@hhchealth.org.

Hartford HealthCare reserves the right to cancel or postpone this program if necessary; in the event of cancellation, course fees will be fully refunded. We are not responsible for other costs incurred such as non-refundable airline tickets or hotel penalties.
