Objectives
As a result of participating in this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Describe how the combination of basic to advanced modalities and team approach can be implemented for preventing limb amputation.
  2. Review the mechanism of action Hyperbaric Oxygen has as an adjunctive therapy in wound healing.
  3. Describe at least 3 possible parastomal complications and their treatment approach
  4. Explain the use of bioengineered tissues for limb salvage.
  5. Describe 2 examples of the Wound Ostomy and Continence nurse's vital role as a key team member in wound healing and patient safety.
  6. Describe challenges for out patient care coordination and the case manager's role in providing excellent patient care.
  7. Discuss innovative methods for the identification, prevention, and treatment of pressure injuries.
  8. Describe several vascular innovations available to improve arterial circulation and reduce venous congestion in order to improve wound care effectiveness.
  9. Identify multiple impediments to healing complicated wounds.
  10. Recall the benefits of advanced biologic therapy in wound care and surgical applications.
  11. Recall the increasingly large toolbox of available interventions available to treat challenging wounds.
