3rd Annual Hartford HealthCare Shock Symposium

Activity Goal: The goal of this activity is to provide the participants with the most current data on drug and device treatments for patients with acute cardiopulmonary shock.

1. Describe characteristics of a patient in shock
2. Identify features for a patient requiring inter-facility transfer that suggest the need for expedited transfer
3. Describe features of a COVID patient suggestive that ECMO is indicated
4. Describe the role of lung transplantation for the COVID pneumonia patient
5. Describe the indications and contraindications for targeted temperature therapy post cardiac arrest
6. Describe the pros, cons and timing strategies of parenteral nutrition for the critically ill
7. Describe the role of point of care ultrasound in cardiac arrest
8. Identify key emotional and psychological features in the caring of critically ill patients from a patient and provider standpoint
9. Discuss the pharmacologic implications of ECMO on medication administration

AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (9.00 hours), ANCC Contact Hour(s) (9.00 hours), ASWB Contact Hour(s) (4.50 hours), Non-Physician Attendance (credits designated as AMA PRA Category 1) (9.00 hours)

• Physicians: Hartford HealthCare designates this activity for a maximum of 6.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)^TM.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.  
• Nurses: This activity is designated for a maximum of 6.50 ANCC contact hours.
• Social Workers: As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Hartford HealthCare is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program.  Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program.  State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Hartford HealthCare maintains responsibility for this course.  Social workers completing this course receive 4.50 continuing education credits.
• EMS Providers:  This symposium has been approved for 6.50 hours of CT OEMS CME hours for live in person learning.  
• All Other Learners: All other learners will receive a Certificate of Participation for a maximum of 6.50 hours.  Consult your professional licensing board regarding the applicability and acceptance of certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education.

 

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations received in writing no less than 5 business days before the course will receive a full refund.  No refunds will be made for cancellations received after that date.  All refunds will be made in accordance with the procedures of the HHC Accounts Payable Department, and may take up to 60 days.  Please send cancellation requests to continuinged@hhchealth.org.
