Overview
This activity equips interprofessional clinicians with evidence-based, multidisciplinary strategies to diagnose, manage, and coordinate care for patients with advanced cardiac and critical illness while addressing technological, ethical, and systems-level challenges across the continuum of care.

Objectives
As a result of participating in this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Enhance multidisciplinary clinical decision-making for patients with advanced cardiac and critical illness by integrating medical, surgical, nursing, and systems-based perspectives.
  2. Apply current evidence and expert consensus to the management of severe cardiovascular conditions, including cardiogenic shock, complex endocarditis, mechanical circulatory support, and prolonged critical illness.
  3. Optimize outcomes for critically ill patients through the effective use of advanced diagnostics, emerging technologies, and safe care transitions across the ICU, transport, and transplant continuum.
  4. Address the ethical, societal, and longitudinal challenges inherent in cardiac critical care, including addiction medicine, chronic critical illness, and coordination of care across disciplines and settings.
