HHC Systemwide Schwartz Rounds (2026)

The Schwartz Rounds program offers healthcare providers a regularly scheduled time during their fast-paced work lives to openly and honestly discuss the social and emotional issues they face in caring for patients and families. In contrast to traditional medical rounds, the focus is on the human dimension of medicine. Caregivers have an opportunity to share their experiences, thoughts and feelings on thought-provoking topics drawn from actual patient cases. The premise is that caregivers are better able to make personal connections with patients and colleagues when they have greater insight into their own responses and feelings.

1. Describe the social, emotional, ethical and personal issues that arise during the care of patients and family caregivers and their impact on professional caregiver staff.
2. Identify opportunities and explore inter-professional perspectives to increase professional support and early identification and appropriate timely intervention
3. Model behaviors of non-judgmental respect and active listening

AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (1.00 hours), ANCC Contact Hour(s) (1.00 hours), APA Credit(s) (1.00 hours), ASWB Contact Hour(s) (1.00 hours), BOC Category A (1.00 hours), IPCE Credit(s) (1.00 hours), Non-Physician Attendance (credits designated as AMA PRA Category 1) (1.00 hours)

• Physicians: Hartford HealthCare designates this Live Activity activity for a maximum of 1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.  
• Nurses: This activity is designated for a maximum of 1.00 ANCC contact hours.
• Social Workers: As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Hartford HealthCare is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. Social workers completing this course receive 1.00 general continuing education credits.
• Other Learners: All other learners will receive a Certificate of Participation for 1.00 hours of education.  Consult your professional licensing board regarding the applicability and acceptance of certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations received in writing no less than 20 days before the course will be refunded, less a 20% administrative fee.  No refunds will be made on cancellations received after that date. Please send cancellation requests to [email protected].

Hartford HealthCare Healthcare System reserves the right to cancel or postpone this program if necessary; in the event of cancellation, course fees will be fully refunded. We are not responsible for other costs incurred such as non-refundable airline tickets or hotel penalties.
