ECMO Specialist Training Course 2026

Multi-day training course to provide advanced education for ECMO specialists.

1. Discuss physiology of the diseases treated with ECMO.
2. Review pre-ECMO procedures
3. Review ECMO equipment and circuit management
4. Discuss physiology of coagulation.
5. Discuss physiology of VA, VV ECMO.
6. Review pharmacokinetics influence on ECMO circuit.
7. Discuss fluid dynamics and physics of ECMO.
8. Review perioperative bleeding management on ECMO.
9. Review daily patient management on ECMO.
10. Review ventilator management on ECMO.
11. Review hemodynamic monitoring and effects of ECMO.
12. Review management of complex ECMO cases.
13. Review medical emergencies and complications during ECMO.
14. Review equipment emergencies and complications during ECMO.
15. Review neurological assessment and concerns of complex ECMO patients.
16. Review transport considerations on ECMO as the ECMO specialist.
17. Review weaning and decannulation of VV and VA ECMO.
18. Review post ECMO complications.
19. Review ethical and social issues associated with ECMO.
20. Review bedside role of ECMO specialist.

AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (3.50 hours), ANCC Contact Hour(s) (3.50 hours), Cardiovascular Education (3.50 hours), IPCE Credit(s) (3.50 hours), Non-Physician Attendance (credits designated as AMA PRA Category 1) (3.50 hours)

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations received in writing no less than 5 business days before the course will receive a full refund.  No refunds will be made for cancellations received after that date.  All refunds will be made in accordance with the procedures of the HHC Accounts Payable Department, and may take up to 60 days.  Please send cancellation requests to continuinged@hhchealth.org.

Hartford HealthCare reserves the right to cancel or postpone this program if necessary; in the event of cancellation, course fees will be fully refunded. We are not responsible for other costs incurred such as non-refundable airline tickets or hotel penalties.
