Objectives
As a result of participating in this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Review the prevalence of limb loss in patients with diabetes and its impact on individuals and healthcare systems.
  2. Describe both non-surgical and surgical interventions for limb salvage
  3. List the characteristics of convexity and relate them to patient stoma assessment and successful pouching outcomes
  4. Describe one new evidence based practice pearl you gained regarding pouching a stoma.
  5. Explain the evidence based treatment of venous ulcers including compression therapy, wound management, and adjunctive modalities.
  6. Provide patient education on the prevention of recurrence of venous ulcers.
  7. Differentiate the clinical features between typical and atypical wound presentations.
  8. Develop evidence based treatment plans for several specific types atypical wounds.

In support of improving patient care, Hartford HealthCare is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

  1. Physicians: Hartford HealthCare designates this Live Activity for a maximum of 4.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

    • ABIM MOC: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 4.75 Medical Knowledge credits in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity.
