In Person registration closes on 05.08. Virtual Registration is open through the beginning of the conference.

Cancer prevention involves reducing the risk of developing cancer through strategies which include lifestyle modifications, screenings, and vaccinations, to name a few. Evidence based strategies include tobacco cessation, protection from sun exposure, maintaining a healthy weight, eating a healthy diet, minimizing alcohol intake, following cancer screening guidelines, and getting vaccinated to protect against viral diseases such as HPV and hepatitis B. Thought leaders will present the most recent compelling data on the role of exercise and the factor of obesity/use of GLP1 agents in cancer prevention. Cancer screening facilitates the use of evidence-based techniques to help identify cancer or its predecessor entities in asymptomatic individuals. Based upon family history, germ-line DNA testing, occupational exposure, and a host of other factors, experts have now identified how average risk status may be modulated. Our panel of expert speakers will suggest how such risk adjustment may be utilized to develop a framework of adapted screening recommendations for higher risk individuals. This new and exciting area of personalization of risk and screening mirrors the type of personalization of care our team provides for each cancer patient we serve. A panel discussion by speakers will cover controversies and innovations in this space and facilitate responses to audience questions. Who should attend: Those interested in cancer prevention and screening from the primary care and oncology perspective will not want to miss this important symposium. In person attendance is encouraged, but virtual attendance is also available.

Objectives
As a result of participating in this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Describe strategies to lower the risk of having a cancer diagnosis, including exercise and maintaining a more ideal body weight
  2. Discuss a more personalized approach to screening for breast, colorectal, and pancreas cancer based on an individual’s risk factors.
  3. Articulate how to create a screening program which can utilize technology to enhance screening sensitivity and accuracy.
