Thursday, May 25, 2023, 8:00 AM - 1:30 PM EST, Hartford HealthCare Cancer Instititute, Zoom & In Person (Contact [email protected] for information)), Hartford, CT

In Person Registration Closes 5/23/23 @ 11:59pm

Virtual Registration Closes 5/24/23 @ 12pm

The goal of precision medicine is simply to deliver the right cancer treatment to the right patient at the right dose and the right time. This enhances the likelihood of response and hopefully lowers the risk of toxicity, thereby enhancing the therapeutic ratio. While many of us think of cancer genomics determined by next generation sequencing as the center of precision oncology, whereby an alteration in a particular cancer gene can predict a response to a targeted therapy, many other targeted approaches also comprise precision characteristics. Included in this ever-changing landscape are many biomarkers and targeted therapeutic approaches which when utilized by a patient’s team can result in a highly personalized treatment plan.

Objectives
As a result of participating in this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Review the biology of cell free DNA and its potential for screening for cancer through a simple blood test.
  2. Articulate how a targeted molecule can advance both diagnostic imaging and therapeutic radioactive treatment of select tumors in theranostics.
  3. Assess treatment of selected hematologic and solid tumors using T immune cells modified and expanded in CAR T cell terapy.
  4. Explain advantages of innovative robotic surgical approaches and stereotactic and proton therapies in maximizing cancer eradication and minimizing normal tissue injury.
