Risk Management Education Series 2023: Challenges of the Electronic Health Record (EHR)

This educational module is designed to provide practitioners with identified risk in the use of Electronic Health Records (EHR) and specific HRO Safety Behaviors for the provider to use to avoid these risks. This module consists of three specific videos of high risk functions in the EHR, specifically, Cut and Paste, Templates, and Medication Reconciliation. The module emphasizes very specific HRO Safety Behaviors to diminish the known risks and improve patient safety and quality of care.

1. Identify benefits of the EHR
2. Improve quality of Clinical Documentation
3. Identify well-recognized risks created in the EHR
4. Describe HRO Safety Behaviors which decrease risks in the EHR
5. Implement Safety Behaviors to improve patient safety and quality of care

• Physicians: Hartford HealthCare designates this Enduring Material for a maximum of 1.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
• ABA MOCA:  This activity contributes to the CME component of the American Board of Anesthesiology’s redesigned Maintenance of Certification in AnesthesiologyTM (MOCA®) program, known as MOCA 2.0®. Please consult the ABA website, www.theABA.org, for a list of all MOCA 2.0 requirements.
• ABIM MOC: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 1.25 Medical Knowledge credits in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program.  Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity.  It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
• ABOHNS Continuing Certification: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn their required annual part II self-assessment credit in the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery’s Continuing Certification program (formerly known as MOC). It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of recognizing participation.
• (Coming OCT 2023) ABOS MOC: Successful completion of this CME activity, which may include participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn credit toward the CME of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery’s Maintenance of Certification program. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABOS credit.
• ABPath Continuing Certification: Successful completion of this CME activity enables the learner to earn 1.25 credit toward Lifelong Learning (CME). 
• ABP MOC: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn up to 1.25  MOC points in the American Board of Pediatrics' (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABP MOC credit. 
• ABS Continuous Certification: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn credit toward the CME and Self-Assessment requirements of the American Board of Surgery’s Continuous Certification program. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABS credit.
• Nurses: This activity is designated for a maximum of 1.25 ANCC contact hours.
• All Other Learners: All other learners will receive a Certificate of Participation for 1.25 hours of education .  Consult your professional licensing board regarding the applicability and acceptance of certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education.

 

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations received in writing no less than 5 business days before the course will receive a full refund.  No refunds will be made for cancellations received after that date.  All refunds will be made in accordance with the procedures of the HHC Accounts Payable Department, and may take up to 60 days.  Please send cancellation requests to continuinged@hhchealth.org.

Hartford HealthCare reserves the right to cancel or postpone this program if necessary; in the event of cancellation, course fees will be fully refunded. We are not responsible for other costs incurred such as non-refundable airline tickets or hotel penalties.
