QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Gatekeeper Training for Suicide Prevention

QPR is an emergency mental health intervention for suicidal persons created in 1995 by Paul Quinnett. An abbreviation for Question, Persuade and Refer, the intent is to identify and interrupt the crisis and direct that person to the proper care. Like CPR, QPR is designed to increase the chance of survival in the event of a crisis. In QPR, three "chain of survival" elements are taught, including recognizing warning signs, asking someone about the presence of suicidal thoughts and feelings, and referring someone to local resources. QPR Gatekeeper training is designed for both professionals and lay people, and is supported by the American Association of Suicidology as an evidence-based suicide prevention strategy.

1. Identify the skills of QPR, including questioning around suicide risk, persuading individuals to seek help, and referring to local resources.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations received in writing no less than 5 business days before the course will receive a full refund.  No refunds will be made for cancellations received after that date.  All refunds will be made in accordance with the procedures of the HHC Accounts Payable Department, and may take up to 60 days.  Please send cancellation requests to continuinged@hhchealth.org.

Hartford HealthCare reserves the right to cancel or postpone this program if necessary; in the event of cancellation, course fees will be fully refunded. We are not responsible for other costs incurred such as non-refundable airline tickets or hotel penalties.
