The goal of this activity is to provide the participants with the most current data on drug and device treatments for patients with acute cardiopulmonary shock.


Objectives
As a result of participating in this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Describe characteristics of a patient in shock.
  2. Identify features for a patient requiring inter-facility transfer that suggest the need for expedited transfer.
  3. Describe the indications and contraindications for targeted temperature therapy post cardiac arrest.
  4. Identify key emotional and psychological features in the caring of critically ill patients from a patient and provider standpoint.
  5. Discuss the pharmacologic implications of ECMO on medication administration.

In support of improving patient care, Hartford HealthCare is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

  • Physicians: Hartford HealthCare designates this activity for a maximum of 6.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.  

    • MOC for American Board of Internal Medicine:  Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 6.25 medical knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program.   • All Other Learners: All other learners will receive a Certificate of Participation for a maximum of 6.25 hours.  Consult your professional licensing board regarding the applicability and acceptance of certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education.
