Overview

Specialty certification is an established indicator of quality and safety and a required element for program certifications such as Magnet and QOPI.  Oncology nurses often cite fear of testing and lack of affordable certification review courses contribute as barriers to becoming certified, The Central Connecticut Oncology Nursing Society’s (CCONS) mission supports life- long learning and professional growth and development.

Specialty certification contributes to improved clinical outcomes and patient and family caregiver experience.  There are many oncology nurses that meet criteria for specialty certification that have not pursued this professional development opportunity.

CCONS is addressing the current gap of an absence of an affordable, live OCN certification review course to its members to increase certification

As a result of participating in this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Define test blueprint and articulate core didactic content necessary for OCN certification
  2. Review test taking strategies that can improve success in the certification testing

  4. List personal and professional benefits of obtaining and maintaining OCN certification
