This CME activity offers healthcare professionals an in-depth update on the diagnosis of Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders emphasizing recent medical and surgical advances, the role of Occupational Therapy, and management of sleep and cognitive issues to improve patient outcomes.

1. Discuss the most recent advances in the medical and surgical treatment options for Parkinson Disease and other Movement Disorders
2. Examine the significance of Occupational Therapy in Movement Disorder patients
3. Explore treatment options for sleep issues in Movement Disorders
4. Recognize the Cognitive manifestations of Movement Disorders
5. Discover non-pharmacological treatments for treamors
6. Explain the diagnosis and treatment of dystonia

• Physicians: Hartford HealthCare designates this activity for a maximum of 5.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)^TM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.  

  • MOC for American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM):  Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 5.00 MOC point(s) in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

  • MOC for American Board of Surgery (ABS): Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn 5.00 credit toward the CME and Self-Assessment requirements of the American Board of Surgery’s Continuous Certification program. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABS credit.

• Nurses: This activity is designated for a maximum of 5.00 ANCC contact hours.

• Pharmacists and Pharmacy Techs: This activity is approved for 5.00 CPE contact hours. ACPE UAN: TBD. Awarding of credit is based on completing an activity evaluation form.

• Social Workers: As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Hartford HealthCare is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program.  Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Hartford HealthCare maintains responsibility for this course.  Social workers completing this course receive 5.00 general continuing education credits.

• Other Learners: All other learners will receive a Certificate of Participation for 5.00 hours of education. Consult your professional licensing board regarding the applicability and acceptance of certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education.
