Objectives
As a result of participating in this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Examine historical perspective on current diagnosis and treatment of gender dysphoria, as well as 3 Principles approach to gender affirming care
  2. Demonstrate an understanding of HHCRN gender-affirming rehabilitation service locations and the referral process.
  3. Review the scope of rehabilitation services that improve experience or enhance outcomes for TGD patients.
  4. Implement holistic and body/mind healing practices (sound healing, yoga, mindfulness, etc) that can be utilized to support transgender and gender nonconforming individuals, in conjunction with traditional treatments and interventions
  5. Identify at least one way of incorporating gender affirming care to their practice
  6. Conceptualize the intersubjective relationship between provider and receiver of care.
  7. Describe changes in the WPATH SOC8 relevant to their practice
  8. Compare different models of treatment (informed consent vs WPATH guidelines) and how differences may impact patient care and access

Featuring speakers recognized as experts in the field of gender health, and a panel discussion of people sharing their personal experiences, including both affirming and non-affirming healthcare practices. The panel will be followed by a Q&A.

Accreditation
In support of improving patient care, Hartford HealthCare is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
  • Physicians: Hartford HealthCare designates this activity for a maximum of 5.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.  
    • MOC for American Board of Internal Medicine:  Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 5.75 Medical Knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
  • Nurses: This activity is designated for a maximum of 5.75 ANCC contact hours.
